Parents of brothers James and Joseph Bowen? Kathleen Bowen Simons is seeking documented proof of the parents of brothers Joseph William Bowen (b. 1787–1788) and James Bowen (b. c. 1790), whose family lines trace through Fauquier and Culpeper Counties ands later into Rappahannock. Family notes from the 1950s attribute their parentage to John Bowen and Margaret Marshall, but Kathleen suspects this could be an attempt to fabricate a connection to the prominent Marshall family of Fauquier. Alternative theories linking them to the Bowen/McIlhaney line or to John Bowen and Margaret LaFon remain completely undocumented.
