  Gilbert Burke served as a Corporal in the Army, during World War II. He was drafted into military service in 1941, and he served 4 years in France. He enjoyed trout fishing in the mountains where he grew up. Gilbert dated Mary Goodall, daughter of Asa Albert Goodall, Sr., and they dated for years, up until she died of cancer in 1974.
