Charles Wilbur Settle, 51, of Woodville died Sunday, January 7, 1968 enroute to a hospital. A native of Rappahannock, he was a carpenter and painter, the son of the late Silas Graves Settle and the late Carrie Quaintance Martin Settle. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ada Grigsby Settle; a step-son, Richard Bayne of Culpeper; a step-daughter Miss Edna Mae Bayne of Wood ville; a step-granddaughter, Melissa Ann Bayne, Culpeper; five brothers, Grover Settle and Albert T. Settle, both Castleton, Oscar H. Settle of Takoma Park, Md., Otho M. Settle, Rixeyville and James E. Settle, /Columbia, Pa.; five sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Settle of Culpeper, Mrs. Moffett Cloud, Mrs. Haywood Rutherford and Mrs. Downing Hitt, all Castleton and Mrs. Frank Parker, Amissville. A funeral service was held yesterday at 2 p.m. from the Woodville Baptist Church with interment in the- Woodville Cemetery. The Rev. B. G. Titchenell officiated assisted by the Rev. Milton Switzer. Those who served as the pallbearers were Isaac Menefee, Lester Wayland, Chester Wayland, C. B. Johnson, Raymond Johnson, H. B. Wood, Jr. Charles Gasch and Weldon Burke. The Geest Funeral Home was in charge.

Silas Grover Settle, age 52 years, of Castleton, met instant death Saturday night, November 18th, when his car overturned on the highway near his home. The cause of the accident has been undetermined and death was possibly due to a fractured neck, as there were no visible injuries on his body. Three of the younger children were riding with Mr. Settle at the time of the accident, and were uninjured. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carrie Martin Settle and five daughters: Myrtle Quaintance Settle and Elizabeth Jane, of Woodville; Mrs. Haywood Ruthof Castleton • Blanche erford. Marie and Nina Virginia at home. The surviving sons are: Silas Grovei, Otho Miller and Albert Taylor Settle, of Castleton; Oscar Humphries, of Rixeyville: Charles Wilbert, of Woodville, and James Edward, of Slate Mills. The funeral services were held from Black Oak Chapel at Eggbornsville on Tuesday afternoon, with the pastor Rev. Warren Corbin, officiating. A large assemblage of friends and relatives was present at the services. The active pallbearers were Tasker Deal, Weston Deal, John Deal, Lummie Deal, Deal and Lillard Settle. Clarence The honorary bearers, who carried the floral tributes, were: Henry Wharton, harry Settle, Roy Cannon, J. F. Cannon, Sammy Tanner and Taylor Gore.
